Painted from a photograph I took while visiting St. John's college. The subdued old-world tones evoke something of the calm, tranquil and scholarly atmosphere of the universtiy. In the foreground, a punter stands at the rear of a boat carrying passengers, providing a sense of scale. Painted in watercolor and drawn in pencil on Arches watercolour paper (which has a textured surface finish). Sold without mat/mount or frame. Painted to the edge of the paper. There are some pencil marks visible (intentionally!).
